Retro Chic

Richard and Susan Fulton have been married for only two short years, living in a small one-bedroom apartment and saving for their first home. Richard's grandmother recently passed away and to the couple's surprise she left them her small home. As they had been saving for their first home, Richard and Susan have decided to pay the tax and keep the home, using the remainder of the money to repair and decorate their new home.

Luckily it snowed late December. Now the Christmas decorations don't look out of place anymore.

Richard's nana, also left the young couple her car: a classic hot rod. Unfortunately it doesn't start at the moment. Richard and his bud Kevin have spent many hours trying to fix the issue. They have made a bet. If by January First of 2011 it has not been fixed yet, Richard will buy Kevin a 20 year old bottle of Scotch and make an appointment with the local garage.

One of the first things the couple did, was installing this porch swing.

This old fire place was salvaged from a bakery. Richard stripped, sanded it, primed it, coated it and last but not least it and painted it to match the interior.

Nana's house comes with plenty of built in storage space. To match the couples modern taste, most of the woodwork is painted dark gray.

Tonight Kevin and his girlfriend are stopping by to spend New Years Eve and to most likely collect the bottle of Scotch.

The young couple loves organic materials. This carpet of recycled leaves was made by a local artist and cost no more than 150 Simoleons.

This is still the original kitchen, as it was installed many years ago. It's amazing what a lick of paint can do.

Susan has spent many hours in the kitchen preparing a festive meal for their guests.

Richard commutes to work most everyday. Sometimes, he works from home though. His last novel: "The Donkey And His Loose Tooth" sold over 75.000 copies.

The dark gray color scheme continues in the bedroom.

This desk has lovingly been restored by Susan's mother Joan.

Some time ago, Richard and Susan argued over this painting. Susan found it in a small gallery in Riverview and immediately fell in love with it. Richard however, finds it disturbing. Susan insisted it would go in their bedroom though.

This is the one room the couple has not touched yet. They do have plans for it for the future though. At the moment it's mainly used for storage, but one day it might become a nursery.
